Facilities

Dining Room

Dining room Dining room
Our dining room downstairs has plenty of space for a large dining table at one end AND a lounge suite at the other. After breakfast you can move to the end of the dining room to finish your coffee and read the complimentary morning paper. You can also spread out and relax here in the evenings if you wish, with complementary tea or coffee available.

Guest Lounge

Guest lounge Guest lounge
The intimate wood panelled guest lounge is the ideal place to curl up with a good book and we have a good selection available. If you start a book and can’t put it down take it with you and just send it back once you have read it.

Alternatively you can listen to a CD choosing from our extensive range of music, listen to local radio, watch TV or DVD. We can also arrange to hire a DVD of your choice if we have none to your liking.

In the upstairs hallway are tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge containing juice and cold filtered water. These are complimentary for all guests.

Gardens

Back garden Back garden
The house is set in a beautiful garden and sheltered by large trees. You are welcome to wander around and explore. In summer we have plums and peaches growing down the driveway and you can take some for lunch – they are delicious. If you want to sit outside you are welcome to use the outdoor furniture or cook some food on the BBQ. Help yourself to some of the herbs and vegetables from the garden.

Courtesy Transfers

If requested we can provide guests with courtesy transfers to/from the Picton ferry terminals or the two local airports.

Travelling on the ferry as foot passengers can save you over $300. Let us meet you at the ferry terminal and then, if arranged prior to your visit, we can provide you with one of our own vehicles (free use of one of our vehicles – certain conditions apply), so you can explore the Blenheim and Marlborough region.

Mountain Bikes and Kayaks

Bikes & kayak Bikes & kayak
We have two top quality, aluminum framed mountain bikes for guests to use, both with front suspension, hydraulic disc brakes and lots of gears. We also supply gloves, crash hats and drink bottles for both serious and relaxed riding around the area. The local mountain bike track, just 10 minutes bike ride away, climbs way up into the Wither hills, is graded from an easy grade 1 for beginners, to grade 3 for the more adventurous (and fit).

We also have two kayaks that guests can use (one very modern sea kayak and another not quite so modern)… and of course will supply floatation jackets etc.

Fishing Gear

We have two surf casting rods 4 and 5 metres long, and some boat rods, together with a tackle-box full of the usual bits and bobs. If you need guidance on their use, either Jayne of Bill would be happy to go over the in and outs of setting up a rig which may catch fish. No guarantees though!!

Internet Access

If you want to check your emails or contact family you are welcome to use the Broadband in our office.

Heating

Bill and Jayne have recently had a new environmentally friendly heating system installed and the house will be very cosy when the evenings get cooler, as well as an open log fire when you are using the dining room, when needed.
